Seed Life Skills
Hello! We are Seed Life Skills, and we have grown from the vision of food education advocate, dedicated father and Chef Hugh Acheson. Consequently, we love food and we’ve got the experience to do food right. Food truly unifies all of us, but doesn’t alone determine our quality of life.
We are a collaborative effort between culinary and industry professionals, school administrators, parents, teachers, movers and makers that know what it takes to prepare our next generation of dreamers, doers, and leaders.
The MISSION
Seed Life Skills is a living curriculum dedicated to EMPOWERING youth to be sustainable stewards of food and financial resources; while emphasizing innovative and handcrafted approaches to core and community lessons.
WHAT WE DO
We focus on providing low-cost, or no-cost, resources made by teachers and for teachers with topics including:
- Hands-on culinary instruction
- Conscious consumer economics
- … and D.I.Y. design principles.
We connect educators with chefs and extension agents to provide meaningful professional development opportunities.
We work with teachers and parents to create experiential learning opportunities in and outside the classroom.
We provide hands-on support to classrooms by leveraging industry and university partnerships.
We provide educational materials to guide students in learning essential, real-life navigation skills.
By providing these essential tools, we seek to empower our youth to say I CAN DO THIS.
